Summary of Investigation This was an overnight investigation done at The Historic French Market Inn located in downtown New Orleans. We rented and investigated three of the rooms of which there was reported activity, as well as the grounds and other areas of the hotel. The rooms were 218 located in the "slave quarter" area, 320 and 321 located in the "heaven" section of the inn. Our team arrived early to check in to our rooms and set up. While setting up we found a traveling emf spike. We chased it from above to under the bed. This took place in room 320 on the first bed you come to when entering the room. Originally we thought it was something electrical but it appeared to be moving. When we went back later during the actual investigation the unusual emf reading was no longer there. The investigation began at roughly 10:30pm. Once the cameras were set up, we set up "trigger objects" and split into three teams of three. We started with the routine base reading walk through of the rooms with our emf meters & ambient thermometer before launching into our full investigation using the already set up IR cameras w/ DVR, a handheld video camera with nightshot, the emf meters, digital recorders, ambient thermometers and several digital cameras. Through the night most of our investigators had some sort of personal experience. One of our members felt the left side of his leg go numb and begin to hurt immediately and for no known reason. This occurred on the final staircase going up to "heaven." We had him go lie down,and drink some powerade. Not long after he lied down he claimed he felt someone push down on the bed as if getting in and begin to rub his leg. This took place in room 321. Another of our members heard footsteps of someone coming down the stairs (again the final stairs going up to "heaven") behind them. They stopped and turned around thinking an actual person was there because it was pretty loud. When they stopped and looked they noticed no one was there, but the footsteps were still coming closer. Several of our members experienced cold spots or the feeling of being watched and/or touched. We wrapped up our investigation around 4:00am but left the IR cameras and digital recorders running throughout the night. Evidence Results: Audio One evp was recorded in room 320. You will hear one of our investigators talking in the foreground, and then in the background what appears to be a loud moaning or groaning noise. Images We captured two images. One of a dark shadowy thing in room 320, and another also in room 320 of an orb. We originally thought the shadow was just that, a shadow, but upon closer analysis we realized it was actually in front of, and covering the lamp, not behind it. Our second thought was maybe somehow a finger or other object obscured the flash or lens. So we tried to recreate that, and did not succeed in getting the same effect. As for the orb, as most of you are aware we do not put much faith in orbs as they are simply collected energy. However since we did capture other evidence in that room and since the orb is not perfectly round, and emits its own light we decided to keep it as part of the collective of evidence. 
 Video Unfortunately there was some sort of malfunction with our IR/DVR video. We were able to view it while there but when we went to play it back for review, there was nothing recorded from that night at all. Our handheld video w/night vision worked but there was no evidence found on our recordings from that. Thermometer There were a few cold spots felt throughout the night in various areas of the inn. When using the thermometer to verify it we noticed there were temperature drops between 5 & 10 degrees below the base reading which 72degrees was. We checked for drafts but couldn't find any and the cold seemed to be moving. One cold spot was located in the stairway going up to the "heaven" area, on the landing just before you climb up the last set of stairs. We had gotten some unusual, moving emf readings earlier in the night there as well. The other was room 218. EMF There were some odd emf fluxuations in room 320 and in the stairway going up to the "heaven" area, on the landing just before you climb up the last set of stairs. Both emf readings were moving and both times when we went back later the reading wasn't there. Investigation Conclusion - Upon reviewing all our evidence combined with our personal experiences we definitely feel there is paranormal activity present. Follow Up Plans We have already discussed plans for a return trip to investigate some of the other rooms with reported activity. We would also like to re-investigate room 320 and actually get some video footage in there this time. Since that is where most of the activity occurred on our previous investigation there. |
